At your first visit you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns with Dr Daniels and the team.

After a comprehensive examination, the issues at hand will be discussed with you along with the range of treatment possibilities and costs. You will also have ample opportunity to ask questions. Additional records such as xrays, study models, or photographs may also be taken at this visit if necessary. These records provide more detailed information to help formulate the best treatment plan for you or your child.

Invisalign

Invisalign appliances consist of a sequence of custom made clear aligners that in suitable cases can provide an alternative to braces and are very comfortable to wear. Dr Daniels has experience with treating even difficult cases with Invisalign.

Invisalign is also suitable for teenagers!

Lingual Brackets

These are the truly invisible treatment option. The braces are custom made in a laboratory in Germany for the individual patient and are bonded to the inner surfaces of the teeth.

Conventional Fixed Labial Braces

These braces are directly bonded to the outside surfaces of the teeth and may be clear or metallic (with or without colours which may be changed at each visit) and are historically the most common fixed orthodontic treatment option. At The Orthodontic Surgery we have embraced the technology of American Orthodontics Empower® appliances which due to their self-ligating nickel titanium clip over the bracket, apply active force constantly and tend to stain less. To date, Dr Daniels has had many orthodontic patients who are very satisfied with the appearance of these appliances. Other fixed appliances are also available upon request and this can be discussed at your orthodontic consultation.

Early Treatment Appliances

Early treatment, where indicated, may involve custom fitted removable acrylic appliances which can be made in almost any colour under the sun, or alternatively made to be relatively invisible. Occasionally, fixed appliances may also be indicated. These options will be discussed with you and your child at your consultation appointment.

- Around the age of 8 years is a good age to first bring your child to the orthodontist unless otherwise advised by your dentist.

A range of orthodontic appliances are available and these options will be discussed with you at your consultation appointment. At The Orthodontic Surgery we embrace new technology and continue to evolve in our selection of appliances to offer you the best treatment options.

Orthognathic Surgery

Rarely, when the discrepancy of the position of the upper and lower jaws is severe, it may be necessary to consider surgically reposition the jaws to provide the best functional and aesthetic result. If a combined orthodontic and surgical approach is required an oral and maxillofacial surgeon will be involved.
